Tottenham set to lose senior attacker to European giants with bid tabled; Conte doesn’t seem to rate him
Fenerbahce have reportedly made a €2m (£1.7m) offer to sign Lucas Moura from Tottenham, with the Turkish giants close to agreeing a deal for the Brazilian.
The 30-year-old has fallen behind the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son and Richarlison in the pecking order recently, hence Spurs’ willingness to let him go at the end of the season.
Lucas still has the ability to be a top player on his day, so he could prove to be a key player for Fenerbahce, who have a number of former Premier League stars among their ranks.
The Brazilian joined Spurs in 2018 and has played a key role in the London sides’ recent success. During Lucas’ time at the club, they have achieved two top four finishes, as well as reaching the Champions League final in 2019, which they lost to Liverpool.
Overall, Lucas has made 213 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 38 goal and making 27 assists in the process.
As mentioned, he has fallen out of favour with Antonio Conte recently, with the arrival of Richarlison, Kulusevski and most recently Arnaut Danjuma, who the London club brought in on an initial loan in January.
This season, the Brazilian has not made a single start in the Premier League under the Italian coach, suggesting that he will leave at the end of the campaign.
According to a report from Turkish outlet Haber Global, Fenerbahce have tabled a €2m (£1.7m) offer for Moura, as they look to bring him in for next season.
As mentioned, he will join some familiar faces if the deal goes through; with the likes of Joshua King, Michy Batsuayi and Joao Pedro all playing their football with the Turkish giants.
Fenerbahce are looking to reasert their dominace at the top of the Super Lig under Jorge Jesus, amid a 10-year league title drought. They currently sit in second place – nine points behind league leaders Galatasaray with one game in hand.
Tottenham, on the other hand, could go through a period of change before next season with them in the midst of a takeover bid, while Conte’s future is also in doubt, with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign.
Lucas remains a fan-favourite in the capital and is thought to be greatly respected by his teammates, but the reality is it’s unlikely he’ll be playing regularly for Spurs again any time soon.
The only possibility of a resurgance at Tottenham would be if his former boss Mauricio Pochettino makes a sensational return, but the links are just rumours at this stage.
Barring any twists, it seems likely that Spurs will allow Lucas to join Fenerbahce, the only question is whether the Brazilian agrees personal terms with the club.
