‘I’m not selling for £100m’ – Hoeness remarks see ‘angry’ Levy firm up Spurs stance on Kane sale; Bayern ‘shocked’

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has told friends that he won’t be selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich even if they offer £100m, according to reports.

The England captain only has a year left on his contract in north London and Spurs are risking losing him for nothing at the end of the season if they don’t sell this summer.

It is clear that Levy will not sell to a Premier League rival but recent reports have indicated a transfer to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich is more likely.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said today that although Tottenham are ‘trying their best to keep Kane’, there is a feeling on the Bayern side that the England striker ‘wants the move to happen’.

Bayern Munich’s honorary president Uli Hoeness said earlier this week that Kane wants to join them and that the Bavarians are confident of getting their man.

“He [Kane] signalled very clearly that his decision was made. And if it stays that way, we’ll get him,” Hoeness said.

“Levy is clever. First we have to get him to name a price. He plays for time, is a great professional. I appreciate him very much. But on the other side [at Bayern] there aren’t any people who have been doing this since yesterday.

“He wants to play internationally [in Europe]. Tottenham won’t be there next season, unlike our club. He now has another opportunity to come to a top club in Europe.

“What we really like about Kane is that his advisors, that is his father and his brother, are very pleasant. So far they have always stood by what they have promised. And if it stays that way, then that’s okay.”

But now German newspaper Bild has revealed that Spurs chairman Levy ‘is said to be angry’ about Hoeness’ comments to the media and has made it clear to Bayern that ‘he of course knew that Harry Kane only had one year left on his contract’.

Kane’s contract situation does not have ‘any impact’ of Levy’s stance over selling the Tottenham striker this summer with the Bayern board ‘amazed’ and ‘shocked’ by Hoeness’ remarks.

Those comments have only served to make Levy more upset after finding out Kane met Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel in London earlier this month. And Levy has now told friends: “I’m not letting him go for £70m, £80m or £100m!”

When asked about interest in Kane at a press conference last week, Tuchel replied: “I have a very boring answer: I do not comment on players who are not with us.

“It’s well known that we are looking for a number 9. If we find someone that fits in, then we’ll go all in. If we don’t find anyone, we’re happy with our squad. But we need more patience.”
