Pulisic, Mendy, Auba good as gone: Ranking the Chelsea squad by likeliness of a summer sale

A Chelsea clearout is on the cards and there are only a few players who can feel safe going into the summer transfer window.

Here is a list of all 39 (!) first-team stars at Stamford Bridge, going from the least likely to be sold to the most likely to be sold this summer.

39) Enzo Fernandez
This Chelsea team will be built around the Argentine World Cup winner; he only arrived in January and still bagged second place in the Player of the Year/tallest dwarf vote.

38) Malo Gusto
Hasn’t played a game for the Blues having stayed at Lyon until the end of 2022/23 after being signed in January as Reece James’ back-up.

37) N’Golo Kante
Technically speaking, he will either leave on a Bosman (not a sale) or sign a new contract. Knowing Chelsea and how mental it has been over the last year, there is probably a third option we haven’t even considered.

36) Wesley Fofana
Having spent over £70million to sign him from Leicester City, a summer sale for the 22-year-old seems extremely unlikely.

35) Marcus Bettinelli
Signed a three-year contract extension in March, all to be Chelsea’s very own Scott Carson.

34) Ben Chilwell
Chilwell should be Chelsea’s left-back for the foreseeable unless Mauricio Pochettino gets p*ssed off with his injury record. Pochettino will like and James.

33) Gabriel Slonina
Might be loaned out this summer, might get a chance to play ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, but definitely should not be sold.

32) Lewis Hall
Has looked good when given the chance; a loan move this summer could work out very well for everyone involved.

31) Benoit Badiashile
Looked decent before getting injured. One for the present and future at just 22.

30) Andrey Santos
He will be loaned out, not sold.

29) Reece James
Logic says to put James right at the top next to Fernandez, but Real Madrid are reportedly lurking and Chelsea do need to recoup some money somewhere.

28) Noni Madueke
It would be so Chelsea for him to be sold after half a year.

27) Mykhaylo Mudryk
Go on, Arsenal. It would be rude not to try. For about half the price.

26) Raheem Sterling
Chelsea invested a lot of money in Sterling and it is hard to imagine them giving up after a year. Also, it is very hard to imagine a club spending big on a 28-year-old (29 in December) who has just scored six Premier League goals in a season.

25) Kai Havertz
The German is highly thought of by a lot of Chelsea fans, who know he is being wasted as a striker. If Havertz leaves, it would probably be for a return to Germany. Would Bayern Munich sign him? Probably not. Borussia Dortmund? Maybe. His finishing his rotten, mind.

24) Thiago Silva
One of very few whose head should not be hung in shame after that sh*tshow. There are some rumours of a move to Brazil though…

23) Armando Broja
Suffered a horrible ACL injury last December during a friendly against Aston Villa. Was strongly linked with an exit in the 2022 summer transfer window before penning a long-term contract.

22) Baba Rahman
Yes, Baba Rahman is still a Chelsea player. I know, I know. What the f**k, right? Out of contract next summer, it seems obvious he will leave then.

21) Carney Chukwuemeka
Might be regretting his transfer already, but was given a decent amount of game time under Frank Lampard.

20) David Datro Fofana
Will surely be loaned out, but a sale should not be ruled out. DD Fofana is arguably the least safe out of the January recruits.

19) Trevoh Chalobah
I wouldn’t sell him if I was Mr. Boehly, but a decent offer should not be immediately snubbed. He is probably not of the standard that Pochettino will expect; Colwill is better.

18) Marc Cucurella
Will Chelsea cut their losses after a disappointing debut season at Stamford Bridge? It wouldn’t be the worst decision, but the idea of making a huge loss a year after signing Cucurella from Brighton will leave a very sour taste in Todd Boehly’s mouth.

17) Kalidou Koulibaly
Finally made the move to the Premier League last summer. Koulibaly’s transfer either came a few years too late, or he joined the wrong club. Both are plausible, to be fair.

16) Ethan Ampadu
Like Rahman, is out of contract in 2024 and spent this season elsewhere. Ampadu could bring in a few million quid and Chelsea should try to make that happen.

15) Cesar Azpilicueta
Like Silva, the Blues captain has recently penned a new deal. A departure would not be an absolute shock, however. He is not a Pochettino-type player now.

14) Kepa Arrizabalaga
One of Edouard Mendy and Kepa are expected to leave this summer, if not both.

13) Malang Sarr
Spent the season on loan at Monaco, who have the chance to buy him for around £10m. We will know a lot more shortly after the Ligue 1 season comes to an end. Sarr recently underwent surgery, which has not helped his chances of sealing a permanent transfer this summer.

12) Omari Hutchinson
If anyone regrets coming to Chelsea, it is this guy. He has absolutely f**ked it. Having signed a three-year contract, Hutchinson might try and stick it out for one more year, but nobody will blame him if he decides to jumps ship.

11) Levi Colwill
Enjoyed an amazing loan spell with Brighton but is due to return to Chelsea for pre-season. Colwill deserves to be a regular starter in the Premier League and if he isn’t assured of playing time under Pochettino, he needs to leave.

10) Romelu Lukaku
Another loan to Inter will probably be on the cards for Lukaku in the summer, but Chelsea need to get him off their books…unless Pochettino has a plan for the big Belgian.

9) Callum Hudson-Odoi
Will return to Chelsea for pre-season following an underwhelming loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, unless he is sold before. The only thing that could save him from the cull is the fact he is a homegrown player.

8) Mateo Kovacic
There appears to be a bit of interest in Kovacic ahead of the summer window (particularly from Manchester City). That comes as no surprise. He is a very good midfielder and would make any team better. His contract expires next year, making the Blues reluctant to keep hold of him.

7) Mason Mount
Anyone else got a sneaky feeling this one is going to be resolved with a contract extension? The boy bleeds Blue.

6) Conor Gallagher
Gallagher should not struggle to find a new club this summer. Will he be given a chance under Mauricio Pochettino or sold to create some much-needed space? We are leaning towards the latter.

5) Edouard Mendy
Lost his place between the sticks to Kepa Arrizabalaga. If that is not a sign your time is up, who knows what is?

4) Hakim Ziyech
Another wide man whose days look numbered at the club.

3) Christian Pulisic
There is plenty of interest in United States star Pulisic, who should be one of the first wingers to depart Chelsea when the transfer window opens.

2) Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Waved goodbye to the Chelsea faithful when subbed off against Newcastle United on the final day. AC Milan are calling, according to reports.

1) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Aubameyang and his gold Lamborghini will be gone very soon. Does a free transfer count as a sale? If he is under contract, we are saying yes.
