Chelsea fringe man target of potential shock swoop by Real Madrid, as Blues could accept bid

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is reportedly the subject of interest from Real Madrid, and Todd Boehly ‘could place him on the transfer list,’ making the move simpler.

Pulisic looked a promising talent for the Blues in the first season following his move from Borussia Dortmund. Indeed, he bagged 11 goals in all competitions from 34 games.

Since then, though, he’s not been quite as impactful. The American forward’s best goals return following his first season at Stamford Bridge is six.

That’s meant he’s been called upon less often as time has gone on. This term he’s started eight times in all competitions and scored once.

With the recent influx of talent in the squad, particularly in attacking areas, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was soon offloaded.

That’s been noted by Defensa Central, who report Chelsea owner Boehly, ‘could place him on the transfer list’. They also explain that, shockingly, Real Madrid are interested in Pulisic.

With the club reportedly planning to bolster their attacking options, it seems they see the American as a useful asset. The report states Pulisic still ‘retains much of the speed and self-confidence that made him stand out’ to Chelsea.

Real likely see the winger as a promising talent because of the skills that he has shown he has, though not so much of late.

The report notes that Pulisic would himself be keen on a move to the Bernabeu. Indeed, they suggest he could ‘see his dream of wearing white come true from next season’.

That’s largely because of the reasons Chelsea might have to want to get rid. With the amount of players that have come through the door at Stamford Bridge of late, some will need to leave.

It’s suggested Chelsea might be ‘under the spotlight of Financial Fair Play regulations’. That so many players have come through the door also means Pulisic is now in an ‘unfavourable situation’ at the club.

As such, a move away seems the best course of action, especially given his contract is up at the end of next season. Real could be the beneficiaries of that and be able to snap him up relatively easily.
