Bayern set yet another deadline in Kane pursuit as Tottenham shun has ‘not irritated’ them

Harry Kane could leave Tottenham this summer.

The ‘transfer task force’ of Bayern Munich are expected to meet again soon to discuss their move for Harry Kane, after Tottenham failed to respond to their apparent deadline.

Bayern’s potential move for Kane has descended into chaos. They’re currently the only side actively pursuing him – Manchester United opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund instead – and it feels as if they believe they are owed something by Tottenham.

Bayern president Uli Hoeness recently stated outright “we’ll get him”. That was nearly three weeks ago (July 18) and they’re yet to have made significant progress.

They have attempted to force Tottenham’s hand. Indeed, it was reported recently that they ‘set a deadline of midnight on Friday’ – two days ago (August 4) for the north London outfit to ‘accept their latest offer’ or they’d walk away.

That there was ever a deadline has been refuted by Florian Plettenberg, adding to the drama. If there was, though, Tottenham failed to give Bayern an answer, with chairman Daniel Levy currently on holiday.

Journalist Manuel Bonke now reports Bayern are ‘not irritated by Levy’s stay in the USA’. Which is nice of them.

It seems there was not a deadline, or at least they don’t care it wasn’t met, as they’re going to continue working on the transfer. Indeed, Bonke reports their ‘transfer task force’ will meet on Monday (7 August).

What’s more, he states there is a ‘decision expected next week’ presumably on if they will continue to pursue the deal.

Everything up to this point suggests Tottenham are not going to part company with Kane. Despite the fact his contract is up next summer, they seem willing to risk him walking away for free to keep him this season.

Of course, he could be convinced to pen a new deal if it’s a positive campaign for the side. If Tottenham don’t get back in touch with Bayern regarding their recent bids, they might well finally walk away.

If they do want to sign a new striker, and they’re getting nowhere down the Kane route, they may well do so sooner rather than later.

As such, it makes sense that their decision will come within a week, but that’s something we’ve heard before.
